Stranded gas.
Off-grid compute.

Iron City Computing turns natural gas from stranded Pennsylvania wells into computing power, generated and used on site. No grid connection, no water use. Built and operated in the USA. United States flag

// 01 · The approach

Not a grid data center.

We put compute where the energy already is: at the wellhead. That means no new load on the grid, no water drawn from the community, and a use for gas that had nowhere to go.

Off the grid

We don't draw power from the grid or sell power to it. Each site generates its own electricity from gas produced on location.

No water use

No utility water, no well water, and no cooling towers. Engines run on a sealed radiator loop, and the computers are air-cooled.

Stranded gas, put to work

Our wells have no nearby pipeline. Instead of sitting idle, that resource now does useful work right where it is.

Domestic compute

Computing capacity built and run in the United States, using domestic energy.

Royalties restored

Royalty holders on these wells now receive royalties.

Local workforce

We hire locally for technical roles and work with contractors and suppliers from the region.

// 02 · How it works

From wellhead to compute, on one site.

Our compute centers are located at natural gas wells in central Pennsylvania. Three steps, all on site, with no pipeline and no grid connection.

Step 01

Well

Natural gas comes from wells on site, gas with no nearby pipeline to go to.

Step 02

Generate

Natural-gas generators turn that gas into electricity, cooled by a sealed radiator loop.

Step 03

Compute

Air-cooled computers use that power on site for high-volume math and hashing work.

// R&D · What's next

Where the compute is headed

Today, our compute helps secure the Bitcoin network through proof-of-work hashing. Alongside that work, our team is researching and developing new technologies and use cases built on high-volume hashing and verifiable compute, with potential applications in areas such as research, cybersecurity, and data integrity. If you're interested in exploring new use cases with us, get in touch.

// Principle
Energy that would otherwise sit unused, converted to compute on site, with nothing drawn from the grid or the water table.
// 03 · Community

Good neighbors, local benefit.

We live and work here. The value these sites create should stay here too.

Royalties for landowners

Gas that couldn't reach a market now has one, so royalty holders now receive royalties.

Local jobs and vendors

Technical roles go to people from the area, and we rely on local contractors and suppliers to build and maintain our sites.

No strain on grid or water

Our sites don't compete with homes and businesses for electricity, and they don't use local water.

// 04 · About

Who we are.

Iron City Computing LLC operates natural-gas-powered compute centers in central Pennsylvania, alongside sister company Iron City Wells LLC.

// The team

We're builders and fixers.

From our mechanics and data technicians to our building and grounds crew, we're a team of builders and technology enthusiasts with decades of combined experience. Our backgrounds range from general contracting, healthcare and restaurants to international field service work and the C-suite of a Fortune 200 technology company. What ties us together is simple: we like to build things that work, and fix them when they don't.
